The first collage I ever made, I was working for VISTA in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, building a community art center in a storefront with Dan O'Conell, and when we were about ready to open the doors he told me I should teach a class...I asked what I would possibly teach a class in (I had never, ever, thought of being an artist) and he said I could teach a class in collage and proceeded to explain what a collage was. I went home, made this one and was hooked from that day on becoming an artist.
